Synchronization error due to System Volume Calculation

Long time back I have come across an error while synchronizing to central. As I hit STC it gives me message saying below:

Cannot synchronize with central because System Volumes are calculating"

As per Autodesk’s solution given on below link, we have to set calculations option for systems.

I have followed this solution but it didn’t worked for me. After doing some diagnosis I have found that if end a process called “Revit Worker.exe” from task manager you will be able to STC.

In case if  you have come across same issue and the solution provided by Autodesk Knowledge base it didn’t worked for you then you can try above solution

Sefaira

I came across this tool through a Rahul Shah's Blog. It looks quite interesting BIM world. This is cloud base energy analysis tool.

Sefaira Concept enables architects and project teams to create better performing buildings with a powerful web-based sustainability analysis platform. It performs whole-building analysis of energy, water, carbon, and renewable energy potential, while an intuitive interface allows for fast, iterative exploration of design options.

Concept allows you to combine creativity and analytic insight to design buildings that are both elegant and highly sustainable.

Sharing below some quick pin points of application. All these are taken from Sefira site.

Rapid energy modeling
Get rapid feedback on whole-building energy use, carbon emissions, and utility costs

Integrated water analysis
Quickly investigate measures for water reduction, graywater reuse, and rainwater capture

Import building geometry
Create models in SketchUp, then upload them directly into Concept

You can find more details about it from below link

Bentley AECO Sim

Bentley announces an AECO Sim.

The new AECOsim family of applications provides uniquely interdisciplinary building design, analysis, and simulation software focused on helping Architectural, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO) practice leaders deliver high performance buildings. These applications enable architects and engineers to author and use rich information models to:
  • Predicatively design and optimize the performance of building systems and utilize information modeling within, and between, multiple disciplines using decision-support capabilities
  • Produce high-quality building and project documentation for use throughout the project lifecycle of design, construction, and operations
  • Extend the capabilities for users of commonly available design tools from Bentley, Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit, Graphisoft  Archicad, and others in an integrated workflow through open standards
AECOsim Building Designer

AECOsim Building Designer provides information-rich multidisciplinary models for use as the centerpiece of a building design workflow, as well as for the integration of design simulation, analysis, and documentation. This innovative Building Information Modeling (BIM) application empowers architects and structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to:
  • create the most complex of buildings and constructions with unparalleled design freedom using comprehensive engineering tools in an immersive design environment,
  • simulate designs with direct links to analysis applications for interdisciplinary optimization,
  • produce photorealistic images and animations,
  • generate fully coordinated construction documentation for output as paper or dynamic PDF deliverables,
  • interact with drawings in their appropriate 3D context – hypermodels – navigating callout links to enhance and clarify the 3D model, which serves as a spatial index,
  • deliver hypermodels, for immersive review, to constructors and owners conveying the design team’s full and best work, and offering integrated-project benefits regardless of the project delivery method.

 AECOsim Energy Simulator
AECOsim Energy Simulator is a rigorous yet intuitive application for the design, simulation, and analysis of building mechanical systems, environmental conditions, and energy performance. Used in both design and retrofit work, the software contributes to better-performing, more-sustainable buildings that consume less energy; provide greater occupant productivity, comfort, and safety; and control lifecycle operational energy costs for their owners.
AECOsim Energy Simulator allows designers to quickly assess design trade-offs in both new construction and retrofits. It is ideally suited to the needs of engineers, building energy consultants, and designers who determine building energy loads and explore building HVAC systems and design configuration options by simulating and analyzing building energy performance in workflows utilizing commonly available design tools from Bentley, Autodesk (including AutoCAD and Revit), Graphisoft Archicad, and others.

AECOsim Compliance Manager
AECOsim Compliance Manager is a new project management and collaboration SaaS that automates the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED certification process. It empowers project teams to achieve LEED certification more accurately, more quickly, and at a lower cost.

Its centralized online LEED data repository and full system of record for all project team activity, document storage, and electronic submissions provide sophisticated reporting capabilities, historical analysis, and access to past projects for best practices information. In addition, AECOsim Compliance Manager’s step-by-step task and LEED credit management, checklists, wizards and calculators, automated LEED credits, teamwork tools, and more all help projects achieve maximum LEED ranking.

Autodesk Project Vasari

What is Project Vasari?

Project Vasari is an easy tool for creating a conceptual building design. It is a stand alone application same as a Revit.Vasari is able to produce conceptual models using both geometric and parametric modeling functionality. Your designs can be analysed using the built-in energy modeling and analysis features.

Once you complete a conceptual design then easily we can bring design data in to Revit for BIM.

The Labs page for Vasari offers the reason for the choice of the name:

Giorgio Vasari was an Italian painter, writer, historian and architect. In his honor, Project Vasari is the name of the latest technology preview on Autodesk Labs.

How to Download??

Go to below link to download the installer for Vasari.

Autodesk Vasari

After installation the technology preview will operate up to 15 May 2011.

How To Learn??

Vasari introduces an excellent series of quick start video tutorials. These are referred to as the Essential Skills Movies; there is a floating window with links to 6 simple movies which will kick start your Vasari experience.

Also you can follow Buildz  blog for more tutorials.
